C	Could is similar to may and might : · It's a strange story, but it could exist true. (= information technology is possible that it's true) · You could accept left your phone at work. (= it'south possible that you left it there) But couldn't (negative) is dissimilar from may non and might non . Compare: · Sarah couldn't have got my bulletin. Otherwise she would have replied.
